Holiday Cabin overlooking Plymouth Sound, South Hams, Devon

From £349 per week

Artist’s View. Quite simply, a beautifully finished light filled cabin. Seaside Chic with easy access to a quiet beach below the cliffs. For two people, it’s the perfect place to escape, and breathe!

Artist’s View is located on the cliffside of Bovisand near Down Thomas, in South Devon. The cabin is a studio for a couple, which has some of the most breath-taking views available in the area. The location offers a real escape, with views over the outer reaches of Plymouth Sound, looking towards Cornwall in the distance. Whatever the weather, the views change on an almost hourly basis, with the Plymouth to Roscoff ferry passing by, the various Naval activities happening ‘on your doorstep’ and the other private boats playing around on the ocean in front of you! The Cabin’s nautical location is well reflected in the furnishing of this property, which offers a chilled, seaside chic feel.

The Cabin itself is a spacious open plan studio, offering a super comfy bed with lovely white linens, where you can sit in bed and watch the boats sail by! The cabin is perfect for a couple or two friends, as we also have the sofa which can be easily turned into a second bed. There’s a sofa area with TV, but why not open the door and use this area to kick back and read that book that you’ve been meaning to start for a while? The kitchen area has an electric hob, a mini oven with a grill and sink, plus there’s a newly fitted walk in shower and WC. We are able to offer on site car parking, and also have the option of wifi nearby. Within this complex of cliffside cabins, there’s a room where wifi is available, and you’ll have access to this during your stay, but we are unable to offer wifi within the cabin itself.

The property has a beautiful decked space in front of the cabin, offering outside dining views of those simply amazing views! And then, once you’ve finished breakfast or dinner, you can walk down to Bovisand beach from the Cabin, which is a sandy, sheltered bay which never gets particularly busy. You will even find a small café and shop down near the beach within a couple hundred metres from the cabin’s location if you fancy a bite to eat without having to prepare this yourself.

The Cabin is called Artist’s View for a reason, so for those of you who are creatively minded (and to be honest- even for those of you who aren’t!), the light, the air and the views offer the perfect combination to encourage you to start sketching or painting. If you like exploring the outdoors, you’re also located on the South West Coast Path, so bring your walking boots and camera.

The perfect space for relaxing, but also ideally located for the beaches of South Devon, as well as the City of Plymouth. Slightly farther afield it’s easy to explore Cornwall from this location.

The cabin itself is located in a small development of similar size and style properties, which are all clinging on to the side of the cliffs in order to make the most of the amazing views. The Cabin is located on the very edge of the village of Down Thomas, as well as the stunning beach that you can stroll easily to, a number of further beautiful beaches can be reached easily – Within the South Hams you’ll also find great surfing spots at Wembury, Challaborough, Bigbury-on-Sea and Bantham, where it’s possible to hire surfboards, wetsuits and have lessons at some of these locations.

From this location, whilst you may feel you’re almost in the middle of nowhere, you can be in the middle of Plymouth within 25 minutes, where you’ll find supermarkets, cinemas, the Theatre Royal, concert venues, restaurants, pubs, cafes, a shopping mall and our favourite, the National Marine Aquarium. For those of you wanting to spend a bit more time on the water, it’s possible to jump on a number of boats offering river and coastal cruises, which easily head into Cornwall if you want to cross the border by sea. If you want to head into Cornwall by car, this is also very easy, and once you cross the Tamar River, it’s easy to explore this part of the South West.
